Employment Support
A Better Way
In Tulsa and Norman, A Better Way: Opportunity Knocks provides an alternative to panhandling: a day’s wages for a day’s work, a meal, and access to supportive services. Participants engage in a two-week program, beautifying city parks and other public spaces, while being introduced to MHAOK’s services and case-management support. This framework is based on the belief that a sustainable job can be the first step toward dignity, health, sobriety, and stability.

A Better Way Tulsa was made possible through a collaborative partnership between the City of Tulsa, the Hille Foundation, Tulsa Authority for the Recovery of Energy (TARE), Mental Health Association Oklahoma, and the Maxine and Jack Zarrow Family Foundation.
