A Better Way: Opportunity Knocks in Norman was made possible through a collaboration between the City of Norman and Mental Health Association Oklahoma.

How It Works

Through roving van outreach, A Better Way makes stops at targeted “hot spot” areas known for panhandling and homelessness, including pedestrian walkways, medians and overpasses.

The van operates three days a week.

A Better Way offers change by:

    • Giving people who panhandle and may be experiencing homelessness an opportunity to work.
    • Paying participants a day’s wages to beautify our communities.
    • Connecting participants to sustainable employment and life-changing services such as food, clothing, shelter, housing, physical and mental healthcare and more.
