Each spring we present our annual Fashion and Talent Showcase, which makes a difference in the lives of more than 70 inspirational participants impacted by mental illness, substance abuse and homelessness. The 15th Annual Fashion & Talent Showcase — My Journey — is May 11 in Tulsa. The reception starts at 6 pm and the show begins at 6:30 pm at First United Methodist Church, 1115 South Boulder Avenue. This showcase is about giving people impacted by mental illness a night to shine! It’s the most inspirational event of the year! Plus, it’s free.
You don’t want to miss this inspirational event that changes lives by giving our amazing participants a catwalk to strike a glamorous pose on, and the opportunity to sing a song, dance, read a poem or even tell jokes.
This memorable event is presented in collaboration with other local non-profit agencies with a combined total of 70-75 models, artists and entertainers, plus more than 400 audience members who witness this heart-warming experience free of charge.
The showcase is not designed as a fundraiser, but rather a positive experience for everyone involved.
All costs associated with producing the showcase are underwritten by the generous community, including donation of the venue, hair stylists, photography, food, printing and door prizes. All modeled clothing is donated and/or purchased by the Assistance League of Tulsa. At the end of the evening, our participants take their new clothes home to use for job interviews and employment.
Ultimately, this one night in May is about building our participants’ self-esteem and proving that recovery from mental illness is possible and happening every day in our community.
